Schaefer earns MACJC Keeper of the Week honors
FULTON, MS – Itawamba Community College sophomore Ben Schaefer has been named Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Keeper of the week for his performance in the Indians' season-opening win over Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
"We had a tough game against Gulf Coast, but our defense showed up and played great to help me be able to have a great game," said Schaefer. "This is more of a team honor than it is an honor for myself and hopefully we can look forward to many more."
Schaefer (Tupelo) made three saves in ICC's 1-0 win over the Bulldogs to record his first collegiate shutout on Friday.
"We're excited for Ben," said Coach Mike Sullivan. "Hopefully he's going to get a whole bunch more and get a few more shutouts because we've got a whole lot more games to go this season. He did a great job in the goal and the defense was great in front of him to help him earn this award."
The Indians return to action today against Jones County Junior College and will travel to Meridian Community College on Friday.
