FULTON, MS -- Itawamba Community College women's basketball coach Nanci Gray and Grant Pate announced the signing of Forest Hill Lady Patriot Latoya Collins on Monday.

Collins was named the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 6A state championship game MVP after scoring a game-high 26 points along with grabbing five rebounds and three steals in Forest Hill's 62-60 victory over Hattiesburg in March.

"It feels good," said Collins. "I'm very happy to be part of the team and excited to get the season started. ICC is a great fit for me because I feel like I can focus on what I want to with my life both on and off the court."

Collins averaged 12.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game as a senior and was a first team selection on the Clarion Ledger's All-Metro team.

"This is a super day for us and we are so excited to have Latoya be part of our program," said Gray. "On the court, she is a tenacious defender and a great scorer, but not only is she a great basketball player, she is a great person."

She is the third MHSAA state champion to sign with the Lady Indians this season joining Meisha Gillom of the Class 5A state champion Oxford Lady Chargers and Leslie Robinson of the Class 3A state champion Belmont Lady Cardinals.
