2012-13 Men's Soccer
“We are well-known for our outstanding athletic programs here at ICC and a large part of that success can be traced back to our coaches stressing the importance of excellence in the classroom,” said Ball-Williamson. “When a student-athlete does what it takes to perform at a high level in the classroom that same type of hard work and dedication shows in their respective sports.”
“Academics are our top priority at ICC,” Ball-Williamson said. “We want all of our teams to be successful and have great seasons, but more importantly we want our student-athletes to be successful in life and everything they do after ICC and a great education plays a big part in making that happen.”
The Itawamba Community College Lady Indians’ and Indians’ soccer teams will be hosting open tryouts on Sunday, February 10 at 2:00 p.m. for the women and 3:00 p.m. for the men.
Itawamba Community College head men’s soccer coach Mike Sullivan announced the signing of Columbus High School star Ricky Hackler and Starkville High School standout Dylan Howard on Monday.
Sophomore Estevan Garcia midfielder (Corinth) was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Region 23 team and was nominated for NJCAA All-American status while freshman keeper Cullen Grantham (Corinth) earned MACJC All-State honors.
Itawamba Community College head coach Mike Sullivan announced the addition of Amory High School standouts Joseph Summers, Garrett Trautman and Evan Thomas to the Indians 2013 roster on Thursday.
Remedios, a striker, is the all-time leading goal scorer at Tishomingo County with 24 goals while adding 6 assists and 2 steals on the year for the 8-5 Braves and is the first male player to sign to play collegiate soccer in the school's history.
“We are very excited about singing these players,” said Sullivan. “We feel like they all have the potential to make an immediate impact on the team and we look forward to adding them to our roster for the upcoming season.”
“Piercen has been a very good player for Pontotoc for quite a while,” Sullivan said of Burchfield, who was recently selected to play in the Mississippi Association of Coaches (MAC) All-Star game. “His brother (Collin) played for us so we know what he is capable of on this level.”
ââ¬ÅThe players are always excited to be able to play under the lights at Ballard Park,ââ¬Â said ICC head soccer coach Mike Sullivan. ââ¬ÅThis is always a key piece to our recruiting puzzle with the great exposure we are able to get in Tupelo.ââ¬Â
“I’m proud of the guys fighting to get this win,” said ICC head soccer coach Mike Sullivan. “We had players step up for us in the place of some of our key guys being hurt and as coaches that gives you a really good feeling knowing you have players that can be productive off the bench when you need them as the season progresses.”
“We didn’t execute well enough to win,” said ICC head soccer coach Mike Sullivan. “We had two poor executed clearances that led to a pair of goals and then we missed way too many scoring opportunities throughout the match."
“We are improving each week and that’s what we want to see out of our players as coaches,” said ICC head coach Mike Sullivan. “We had our chances, but just wasn’t on top of our game to come away with the win.”
“Hopefully this was a sign of a good team not playing their best, but still finding a way to win,” said ICC soccer coach Mike Sullivan. “We battled hard this past weekend and couldn’t find a way to come away with a win, but the guys learned from that and dug a little deeper to get the win."
“We learned a lot about ourselves in these two loses,” said ICC assistant coach Cody Carson. “We know what we have to improve on and where we need to be as a team to be able to compete with these type of teams.”
“This will be a tough test for both squads,” said Sullivan. “Both Pearl River and Gulf Coast have a legitimate shot at not only winning the South Division, but also this year’s state championship."
