AMORY, MS -- Itawamba Community College head baseball coach Rick Collier announced the signing of Tanner Poole and Destin Hahn of Amory High School on Wednesday.
"These guys are big signees for our program next season," said Collier. "Tanner is one of the top outfielders in the area and that's going to be a key spot we are looking to fill for next season and Destin is a good two-way player with the ability to be live arm on the mound and giving you a solid glove at third."
Poole, a pitcher and center fielder batted .306 with a .425 on-base percentage and 12 RBI, 21 runs, 7 doubles, and a home run while stealing 14 bases as a junior. On the mound, he had a 0.96 ERA with 70 strike outs for a 6-2 record with a save in 12 appearances.
"It feels great knowing I'll be an Indian next season," said Poole. "They have a great program and coaches. I look forward to doing what I can to help them keep winning."
Poole earned All-Division and Division MVP honors while being starters on the Panthers' 2010 North State Championship and 2011 North State Runner-Up teams.
Hahn, a pitcher and third baseman, batted .291 with a .431 on-base percentage and 9 RBI, 3 doubles and 1 triple in his first season with the Panthers after transferring from New Hope High School. On the mound, he had a 2.50 ERA with 67 strike outs for a 4-3 record in 9 appearances.
"It feels great because playing college baseball is something I've always dreamt about growing up and now to have this moment come true is unreal," Hahn commented. "ICC has always had great baseball teams and I've always wanted to be a part of their program."
Hahn earned All-Division honors and was named Defensive Player of the year.
"Both these guys are leaders on and off their field with our team," said Amory head coach Chad Williams, who was a member of 1993 State Championship team at ICC. "We are looking for big things out both guys this season and expect them to have outstanding careers at ICC."
