FULTON, MS - A day after being named MACJC Pitcher of the Week, freshman pitcher Brady Chambley (Winona) was named National Pitcher of the Week by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
"It's a great honor to get this recognition, but it's not all about me," said Chambley. "It's about the team and how hard we worked throughout the fall with all the days we put in."
The southpaw faced 27 batters, gave up six hits, no runs, two walks and had four strikeouts in a complete game shutout victory in his collegiate debut against Calhoun Community College on Saturday.
"It was a combination of how the guys came out swinging the bats and how well the defense played behind me," commented Chambley. "I know I get the award, but it really goes to rest of the team because if it wasn't for them it wouldn't be much for me."
The Indians (3-1, 0-0 MACJC North) will return to action when they take on Ellsworth Community College out of Iowa and Southwest Tennessee Community College on Tuesday, February 18 at USA Stadium in Millington, TN.
