The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) announced Wednesday afternoon that Itawamba Community College's JT Salter was named Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

FULTON, MS – The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) announced Wednesday afternoon that Itawamba Community College's JT Salter was named Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

The sophomore from Bay Minette, AL had a standout performance from the mound last week that helped the Indians (30-14, 17-11 MACJC) pick up two big wins over East Mississippi Community College and Hinds Community College.

Salter started the week throwing one perfect inning and pick up the save in the 5-4 win over East Mississippi Wednesday before throwing a complete game three hit shutout in Saturday's 7-0 win over Hinds.

The 6'7 right hander combined for 10 strikeouts while only allowing three hits and walking two. Salter only faced 29 batters over eight innings of work and also earned MACJC Pitcher of the Week honor Tuesday.

Salter's complete game winner Saturday clinched home field in the best-of-three playoff series for the Indians which is set to begin Thursday, May 11 at 6 p.m. against Pearl River Community College.
