Booneville, Miss. – After rallying to force extra innings, the Indians comeback effort came up just short as Northeast picked up the 4-3 walk-off win in the season opener.
The Indians (0-1) trailed 4-0 heading into the seventh inning, but were able to tie the game after Lane Domino (Fulton) smashed a three-run home run and Kylan Carter (Houston) scoring the tying run as Bailey Allbritton (Duck Hill) reached on an error.
Both teams were retired in order in the next offensive attempts, but the hosting Tigers were able to get the walk-off win in the bottom of the eighth on a RBI single.
