Graham’s Bat, Edge’s Save Sends Indians Past Illinois Central
Graham went 3-for-4 and the Indians shook off an early deficit and a late jam to beat Illinois Central College 5-2 on Saturday at Cresap Field.

Graham went 3-for-4 and the Indians shook off an early deficit and a late jam to beat Illinois Central College 5-2 on Saturday at Cresap Field.
Illinois Central (0-1) struck first with a run in the top of the first, but ICC (4-2) flipped the scoreboard right back in the bottom half. Jacob Pearl came home on a groundout by Reid Kent, then Brody Thompson scored when Graham laced a double to push the Indians in front 2-1.
The Cougars scratched out the equalizer in the sixth after an ICC error extended the inning and tied it at 2-2. It lasted about five minutes.
In the bottom of the sixth, Will Caviness put the ball in play and pressure did the rest. Noah Canten scored on a center field error to make it 3-2 Indians.
The Indians created separation in the seventh. Graham singled home Houston Green, then later scored on a passed ball to stretch it to 5-2.
Illinois Central had one last push, loading the bases with nobody out in the top of the seventh, but ICC shut the door. After a strikeout, the next hitter popped one into foul territory, then another strikeout finished it and locked up the save. Connor Edge earned the win for the Indians.
ICC will host a doubleheader against the Cougars on Friday. The first game of the day will be a nine-inning contest starting at 2 p.m. with a seven-inning game in the nightcap.
