ELLISVILLE, Miss. — ICC waited until the final inning to make its move, and the Indians made it count.
ICC rallied late for a 4-3 non-conference win over Holmes on Thursday at Jones College, breaking a 3-3 tie in the top of the seventh when Cannon Graham delivered the go-ahead RBI single.
The Indians struck first in the opening inning when Houston Green grounded out to bring home a run, but the Bulldogs answered quickly and jumped in front 2-1 in the bottom half of the first.
ICC punched back in the second and reclaimed the lead at 3-2. Jack Cummings singled down the right field line to score a run, then Andrew Williams followed with an RBI single to the right side of the infield to keep the pressure on.
Holmes eventually pulled even at 3-3, setting up the seventh-inning finish.
That is when ICC came through again. With the game tied in the top of the seventh, Graham lined a single that brought in the go-ahead run and gave the Indians the lead for good.
ICC backed it up on the mound down the stretch. Scott Green earned the win in relief of Gavin Bailargeon, working 1.1 scoreless innings while allowing one hit with two strikeouts and no walks. Bailargeon gave the Indians 5.2 innings, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out four and walking three.
The Indians finished with 10 hits in the win. Graham led the way with a 3-for-4 night at the plate, and Kent added two hits.
