MACC announces start of 2020 football season
The Mississippi Association of Community Colleges (MACC) announced plans to delay the 2020 football season to Thursday, October 1, after a conference call among the colleges' presidents, Friday morning.
FULTON, Miss. - The Mississippi Association of Community Colleges (MACC) announced plans to delay the 2020 football season to Thursday, October 1, after a conference call with the colleges' presidents, Friday morning.
The plan is to play a six-game division-only schedule and conclude with a playoff. The new schedule and other policies are still being determined by the conference and will be announced at a date still to be determined.
"The MACC will continue to evaluate the impact of COVID-19 and the impact on its student-athletes," the conference noted in a statement released to the public.
The MACC includes the state's 15 community college presidents.

The conference originally voted to move the start of the season from August 27 to September 10 with an eight-game regular season with the traditional four-team playoff format. When the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) voted to move all fall sports to the spring off 2021. The MACC felt they needed more information before making a final decision and abstained from the vote.
