Rowsey named NJCAA Defensive Player of the Week
For the second-straight week, an ICC football player has been selected as the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Defensive Player of the Week.
FULTON, Miss. – For the second-straight week, an ICC football player has been selected as the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Defensive Player of the Week.
Dylan Rowsey (Rienzi) picked up the honor for his performance in the Indians' come-from-behind win over Mississippi Delta. The sophomore defensive back recorded eight solo tackles and returned an interception 43 yards for a touchdown to help secure the 35-17 win over the Trojans.
Rowsey was named Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. Last week, sophomore linebacker Jaiyden Thompson (Okolona) earned both honors after recording 18 tackles the Indians' win over East Mississippi.
The Indians (4-1, 2-0 MACCC North) head into the bye week with their best start since opening the 2013 season with five-straight wins.
ICC will return to action on Thursday, Oct. 10, when they travel to Clarksdale for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff with Coahoma Community College. They will return to Fulton, Oct. 17, to face No. 8 Holmes Community College on Homecoming at 7 p.m.
