McBride, Bailey Power Indians Past Delta

MOORHEAD, Miss. – The Indians (3-2, 2-0 MACCC North) controlled the game from start to finish in a 34–2 win over Mississippi Delta (0-5, 0-2) on Thursday night.
ICC scored on its opening possession when Mykel Allen capped a short drive with an eight-yard touchdown run to give the Indians a 7–0 lead.
Delta answered early in the second quarter with a safety, but Itawamba responded immediately. On the next series, Tahj McBride intercepted a pass and returned it 72 yards for a touchdown to extend the lead to 14–2.
The Indians struck again before halftime. Deljay Bailey connected with Nate Branch on an 18-yard touchdown to make it 20–2 going into the locker room.
In the third quarter, Bailey pushed the margin further with a one-yard touchdown run, capping a balanced drive on the ground and through the air. He added a nine-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter for his third score of the night. Bailey finished 12 of 20 passing for 137 yards and a touchdown with 31 rushing yards and two more scores.
Jaylen Foster paced the rushing attack with 50 yards on 10 carries, while Allen finished with 15 yards and his first-quarter touchdown. Tavaris Coles caught six passes for 80 yards, and Branch added three catches for 32 yards with a touchdown.
The ICC defense held the Trojans to just 77 total yards on 61 plays. Delta managed negative-18 rushing yards on 31 attempts and only six first downs. McBride finished with two interceptions, while Landon Richardson added another.
Jarquez Perry led all tacklers with 10 stops, including four tackles for loss and a sack. Jeremiah Harris added six tackles, and seven different Indians recorded at least part of a sack.
The Indians will be off next week before returning to action on Thursday, October 9, hosting Coahoma for Homecoming.
