Fulton, Miss. — The Indians dropped their home opener 79–67 to Lawson State on Monday night.
DJ Davis led the Indians with 21 points, connecting on 11 of 13 free throws. Damarion Winston followed with 15 points and nine makes from the line, while freshman forward Kyler Fox posted 13 rebounds, seven points, and five blocks.
Despite shooting just 4% from three-point range (1-for-22), Itawamba stayed competitive by hitting 32 of 41 free throws and forcing 11 steals.
The Indians will look to reboubd when they travel to Tuscaloosa to take on Shelton State on Thursday.
