BOONEVILLE, Miss. – The Indians battled but came up short, falling 75-63 at Northeast in a non-conference matchup on Monday.
The Indians kept the game tight in the first half, trailing by just two at intermission, 34-32. DJ Davis and Damarion Winston led the way, each scoring 16 points.
The tide began to turn as Northeast Mississippi started finding its rhythm from deep in the second half. The Indians struggled to convert several close-range attempts and missed free throws, allowing the Tigers to regain the lead. Turnovers at critical moments and timely baskets from Northeast pulled away in the final minutes, converting free throws and hitting outside shots.
ICC's shooting cooled considerably, connecting on only 30.8 percent of its field goals and 20 percent from three-point range.
The Indians will look to bounce back when they host Hinds on Wednesday.
