Rally Comes Up Short in Overtime at Coahoma
Down double digits late, the Indians erased an 11-point deficit and forced overtime Monday at Coahoma before the rally finally ran out of gas in the extra session of an 82-72 decision.
CLARKSDALE, Miss. – The Indians refused to let the night end quietly.
Down double digits late, the Indians erased an 11-point deficit and forced overtime Monday at Coahoma before the rally finally ran out of gas in the extra session of an 82-72 decision.
Coahoma came out hot and put the Indians in a hole early, taking a 39-22 lead after the first half. ICC steadied itself after the break and played the second half like a different team. The Indians won the final 20 minutes 46-29, getting stops, pushing tempo, and stringing together enough scoring bursts to drag the game back to level and force the extra frame.
In overtime, the fight was still there, but the legs were not. After spending so much energy to climb all the way back, ICC managed just four points in the extra period while Coahoma found enough to pull away with a 14-4 overtime advantage.
DJ Davis led the charge with 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting and set the tone defensively as well with four steals. Damarion Winston put together a full night, finishing with 17 points and seven assists. Tim Holliday added 11 points off the bench and was perfect at the line at 5-for-5
