Fulton, Miss. – The Indians got 22 points from Damarion Winston and a huge lift off the bench from Tim Holliday to pull out a 72-68 win over Meridian in a back-and-forth battle.
The Indians carried a 39-36 lead into halftime, but the Eagles kept pressing and briefly moved back in front early in the second half. ICC answered and the final 10 minutes turned into a possession game. The Indians led 55-53 with 9:30 left, then the teams battled until it was tied 57-57 with 6:32 to go.
Down the stretch, the Indians made the plays that mattered. The Indians pushed back in front 64-61 with 2:53 remaining, then held on in the final minute as the lead sat at 68-66 with 33 seconds left before closing it out at the line.
Winston finished with 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting with nine rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Holliday added 19 points, hitting 3-of-8 from three and going a perfect 6-of-6 at the stripe. Jaden Harper scored 10 points on three made threes.
