FULTON, Miss. - The scoreboard looked like a conference statement, because it was.
The Indians (18-6, 8-1) took control early, hit halftime up four, then buried Mississippi Gulf Coast (19-5, 6-3) with a 40-point second half to pull away for a 79-64 win.
The Bulldogs came in with a strong record, and they scored 35 in the first half to keep it tight. ICC just kept answering. DJ Davis and Damarion Winston steadied the offense, Kyler Fox owned the glass, and the Indians walked into the break with a 39-35 lead.
Then the second half turned into a home-floor run. Itawamba cranked the pressure, won the rebound battles that matter, and started turning stops into points. The Indians put up 40 after halftime and held the Bulldogs to 29, stretching a one-possession game into a 15-point finish.
Tim Holliday was the heater off the bench, pouring in 23 points. Winston followed with 15 points and six assists, while Fox finished with 12 points and eight rebounds and made his presence felt inside with two blocks. Davis posted 11 points with four assists and three steals.
Up next, the Indians travel to East Central Community College on Monday.
