SCOOBA, Miss. - The No. 25 Indians turned a close first half into a pull-away win with a big second-half surge, beating East Mississippi 64-46.
ICC led 25-19 at the break, then broke it open after halftime with a 39-27 second half to put the game away. The Indians finished with 18 assists on 24 made field goals and held East Mississippi to 28.8 percent shooting from the floor and 15.4 percent from three.
That was the separator.
When the game was still tight, the Indians stayed composed, defended and kept creating quality looks. Once the offense loosened up, they stretched the margin and never let East Mississippi build any real momentum.
Damarion Winston set the tone with 14 points, nine assists and seven rebounds, adding three steals. DJ Davis added 12 points while Tim Holliday gave the Indians a lift off the bench with 10 points.
ICC finished plus-four on the boards at 42-38, matched East Mississippi with nine offensive rebounds and took care of the ball with only six turnovers.
The Indians shot 41.4 percent from the floor and hit eight threes, while East Mississippi managed just four made threes on 26 attempts.
