FULTON, Miss. — The No. 25 Indians took control early, built separation with two first-half 7-0 bursts and never let Southern-Shreveport back in the game, rolling to an 82-66 win in the NJCAA Region 23 Quarterfinals.
The Indians set the tone early and used those two key stretches in the opening half to create space on the scoreboard. The Jaguars had its moments, but ICC kept the game on its terms and carried a 37-29 lead into halftime.
In the second half, the Indians stayed steady. Every time the Jags looked to make a push, ICC responded with a basket, a stop or a trip to the free throw line. That balance allowed the Indians to keep a comfortable margin and close out the quarterfinal win without much late-game stress.
Tim Holliday came off the bench to score 28 points, knocking down six 3-pointers. Damarion Winston added 13 points and six assists, helping guide the offense and create opportunities for others. Kyler Fox finished with 10 points, seven rebounds and four blocks.
The Indians finished with 16 assists, 12 steals and six blocks while also going 27 for 36 at the foul line.
With the win, the Indians advance to host No. 12 seed Hinds on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the semifinals of the Region 23 Tournament.
