The ICC golf season came to an end on Friday, as the Indians failed to make the cut at the 2018 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) District D Championship after finishing fifth in the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Championship tournament at Dancing Rabbits Golf Club.
The ICC men’s golf team sits in fifth place after carding a first-round score of 317 (+29) after the first day of the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Golf Championship at Dancing Rabbit Golf Club in Philadelphia.
The men’s golf team will host the fifth stop on the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Spring Tour at the par-72, 7,246-yard Ackia Golf Club in Amory on Saturday and Sunday.
The Indians carded a team-total 622 with rounds of 304 and 318 to finish in the fifth spot of the Meridian Invitational, 43 shots behind the event winner Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
ICC shot 304 in the opening round and head into the clubhouse in fourth place out of eight teams. Host Meridian grabbed the overall lead with a 287, with Gulf Coast (292) five strokes back and Co-Lin (297) ten strokes off the lead.
The Indians were unable to make a move up the leader board on the final day of the Gulf Coast Fall Invitational. ICC held steady and finished 14th after a team-total 638 (+62), 56 strokes off the winner Wallace State (Ala.) Community College.

The Indians slipped two spots after carding a 314 (+16) on Sunday to finish fifth in the Co-Lin Invitational with a two-day total of 614 (+38) at Wolf Hollow. Brandon Walker (Vardaman) finished 14th for the tournament with a two-day total 151 (+7) after carding a 78 (+6) on the final day of action.
The Indians finished tied for third with host Co-Lin after an opening round 300 (+12) in the Co-Lin Invitational on Saturday. Hunter Lucas (Belmont) and Brandon Walker (Vardaman) led the way for the Indians after carding a 73 (+1) to finish Day 1 of the tournament tied for ninth.
The golf team shot a find round 24-over par on Sunday to finish at 42-over par and in 9th place at the Hinds Invitational. Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College won the Invitational at 11-under par.
Hunter Lucas (Belmont) finished one stroke out of the Top 10 after carding a 74 (+2) after 18 holes to lead the Indians to an eighth-place start to the Hinds Invitational at Eagle Ridge.
