FULTON, MS – Itawamba Community College men's soccer standouts Blake Lashlee (Olive Branch) and Sabi Malli (Tupelo) have signed National Letters of Intent to continue their careers at Belhaven University.
"These guys have been rocks for us the past two years," said ICC head men's soccer coach Mike Sullivan. "They are a big reason for our success and we're excited for them and it should be interesting to see how they do next year."
Lashlee scored 13 goals and had nine assists and 35 points while playing in 26 games during his time at ICC. In his freshman campaign, Lashlee started all 16 games and scored nine goals, including three game winners.
As a sophomore, the 5'10 midfielder missed some games due to injury but scored four goals and picked up six assist in 10 games.
"Belhaven had a successful season last year and they are a good academic school as well so it's a win-win," said Lashlee. "But I had a lot of fun here at ICC and got to play with a lot of great guys and made friendships that will last a life time."
Malli competed in 27 games over his two years under Coach Sullivan and scored three goals and picked up six points.
The 6-2 defender was a team captain during his sophomore season and helped the Indians win 20 games over the past two seasons.
"It's a good private school to go to and I am looking forward to it," said Malli. "A lot of my old ICC teammates play there and they were very successful last season."
The duo was selected to the MACJC All-Star game in November and were apart of the NJCAA Academic Team of the Year in 2014.
They will join five former ICC teammates Piercen Burchfield, Rickey Hackler, Jerry Malli, Alx Little and Ben Schaefer, who all signed with the Belhaven in 2014 and helped the Blazers to a 14-4-2 record and a No. 3 National Ranking in 2015.
