FULTON, Miss. – The Indians set the tone early in their win over the Bulldogs on Tuesday.
The Indians (7-4-2, 4-3-1 MACCC) got on the board first when Gage Lashlee found JB Purvis for the goal in the 10th minute. Malte Nickelsen made it a 2-0 contest off an assist from Billy Gipp a minute later. Maryo Elsheikh extended the Indians' advantage to 3-0 with an unassisted goal in the 39th minute.
Holmes (4-8-1, 1-7-1 MACCC) bounced back to make it a 3-1 contest and grab momentum just before halftime.
The Bulldogs charged back to start the second half before an unassisted goal by Anthony Jones put the Indians up 4-1 in the 59th minute. Eric Velazquez help put the game on ice with a phenomenal save on a Holmes' penalty kick in the 74th minute.
ICC will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Northwest to take on the Rangers at 3 p.m.
The Indians are currently fifth in the conference standings with two matches to play in the regular season. The top seven teams will advance to the playoffs starting on Saturday, October 29 with teams and locations still to be determined.
