FULTON, Miss. – The Indians rolled to its third straight win Saturday, defeating Oxford College of Emory University 8-1 in Birmingham, Ala.
The Indians struck first in the 12th minute when Villads Juma (Denmark) scored off a pass from Jeremiah Dudley (Starkville). Juma added a second goal just eight minutes later, assisted by Jay Sanders (Saltillo), to make it 2-0. Dudley got on the board in the 27th minute with Juma providing the setup, giving ICC a 3-0 lead at the break.
Oxford scored its only goal of the match in the 48th minute, but ICC quickly answered. Guilherme Ferri (Brazil) scored in the 53rd minute on an assist from Shota Kawagoe (Japan). Dudley added his second goal in the 63rd minute with Juma again creating the chance, before Juma completed his hat trick two minutes later with an unassisted strike.
Goalkeeper Anthony Marquez (Saltillo) got in on the offensive action. He helped set up the Indians seventh goal, sending a long ball forward that Will Barber (Oxford) finished in the 75th minute. Three minutes later, Mason Beaman (Saltillo) capped the scoring with an unassisted strike to secure the 8-1 final.
Juma finished with three goals and two assists, while Dudley added two goals and one assist. Ferri, Barber, and Beaman each found the net, and Marquez picked up an assist while recording two saves in goal.
The win moves ICC to 3-0-0 on the season. ICC will be back in action when they travel to Knoxville, Tenn. to take on Patrick & Henry Community College on Thursday.
