MERIDIAN, Miss. – The No. 19 Indians dropped a narrow 5-4 decision at No. 18 Meridian, battling down to the final courts before coming up just short.
In doubles play, Meridian claimed two of the three courts to take an early 2-1 lead. At No. 1, Andrea Cattaneo and Josue Segrelles Tronchoni fell in a tightly contested 9-8 match to Daniel Espin and Baldwin Jared Escobar Cifuentes. At No. 2, Andrej Tasevski and Kole Kusek were edged 9-7 by Ned Simpson and Gavin Robles.
ICC picked up its lone doubles win at No. 3, where Matthew Durrett and Jacob Christ secured an 8-5 victory over Jack Tutor and Jackson Grady.
In singles action, Kusek picked up a win at No. 4 with a strong 6-1, 6-1 performance. Durrett followed with a 7-5, 6-0 victory at No. 5, and Christ delivered a dominant 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 6.
Cattaneo dropped a 6-0, 6-2 decision at No. 1, while Tasevski came up short in a three-set battle at No. 3, falling 7-6, 2-6, 6-2 and Segrelles Tronchoni dropped No. 2, 6-4, 3-6, 2-0 (0-0) (ret.)
