The No. 23 Indians dropped a 6-3 decision to No. 17 Northwest at the Johnson-Partlow Tennis Courts on Friday.
FULTON, Miss. – The No. 23 Indians dropped a 6-3 decision to No. 17 Northwest at the Johnson-Partlow Tennis Courts on Friday.
In doubles play, Northwest claimed all three courts to take an early 3-0 advantage. At No. 1, Andrea Cattaneo and Josue Segrelles Tronchoni dropped an 8-4 decision. Andrej Tasevski and Kole Kusek fell by the same 8-4 margin at No. 2, while Matthew Durrett and Jacob Christ were edged 8-5 at No. 3.
The Indians responded with strong efforts in singles, picking up three victories. Segrelles Tronchoni earned a straight-sets 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1, while Cattaneo followed with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 2. Tasevski battled through a three-set match at No. 3, rallying for a 5-7, 6-0, 6-4 win.
Northwest secured the team win by taking the remaining singles matches. Kusek fell 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4, Durrett dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision at No. 5 and Christ was narrowly defeated at No. 6 in a three-set tiebreak, 4-6, 6-4, [10-6].
