Seiler, Elder, Hawkins sign to play softball at ICC

ICC signs three area softball standouts for next season

FULTON, MS – Itawamba Community College softball coach Andy Kirk announced the addition of three new faces to the North Division Champion Lady Indians' roster when Taylor Seiler of Calhoun City, East Union's Rachel Elder and Montana Hawkins of Sulligent, Alabama all signed National Letters of Intent to play softball at ICC next season.
"All three of these players will help add depth to our roster in key positions for next season," said Kirk. "I feel like all three will be able to come in and compete for starting roles right away."
Seiler, a catcher, batted .214 with 18 RBI, four doubles and five stolen bases to go along with her .900 fielding percentage for Coach Josh Hegwood and the Lady Wildcats.
"Taylor has a really strong arm behind the plate," said Kirk. "She'll be able to give us the ability to rotate our catchers from one game to the next to help keep down the bumps and bruises that come with having one player behind the plate all season long."
Elder, a utility player, batted .422 with 26 RBI with five doubles, four triples and a home run while successfully steal six of six bases for Coach Brad Brown and the Lady Urchins.
"Rachel is going to be one of those players that we can play anywhere," said Kirk. "She brings a lot of speed and athletic ability to the team."
Hawkins was named Most Valuable Player, team captain and won the slugger and gold glove awards at Sulligent. She was selected All-County, All-Conference, All-West Alabama, and All-Area 12 MVP.
"Montana is a highly-decorated player and will bring a lot of experience to the team next season," Kirk said. "She another signee that I feel will come in and make an immediate impact next season."
