GARDENDALE, Ala. - The No. 12 Indians kept rolling at JUCO Turf Wars in Game 2, pairing a lights-out complete-game shutout from Ella Lilly with a four-run fourth inning that broke the game wide open.
Lilly controlled the day from the first pitch to the last, firing a complete-game shutout as No. 12 Indians blanked Snead State 6-0.
The Indians and Parsons traded zeros for three innings until ICC finally broke through in the top of the fourth and stacked the damage in a hurry. Zoe Goodman came home when Alannee Wheeler reached on a fielder's choice. Nelly Hodum followed with a single to drive in Wheeler. Hodum later scored on another fielder's choice. Macie Starling crossed the plate on Victoria Fields' double to cap the four-run surge.
Snead State never found traction against Lilly, and the Indians made sure the finish was clean. In the top of the seventh, Anna Thomas Luke launched a two-run homer for the insurance that turned 4-0 into 6-0 and shut the door on any late push.
Fields led the lineup with two of ICC's eight hits, and Lilly did the rest, finishing the shutout in the circle to send the Indians forward with a second straight Turf Wars win.
