FULTON, Miss. – Lizzie Meeks turned in a pair of dominant performances that didn't just win games; they turned heads across the country. On Wednesday, she was named NJCAA Division II Softball Pitcher of the Week following an impressive week.
She began the week by tossing a complete-game no-hitter with eight strikeouts in a 4-1 victory over Calhoun. The lone run scored was unearned, as Meeks controlled the game from start to finish and limited hard contact throughout.
Meeks followed that outing at the Turf Wars Invitational with another strong performance against No. 12 Chattanooga State (DI). She worked 4.2 scoreless innings, allowing just three hits while striking out six in a 4-1 win.
Meeks was also named MACCC Pitcher of the Week for her performance last week.
No. 12 ICC is back home Thursday, Feb. 19, hosting Bevill State for a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Andy Kirk Field.
