Goodman’s Walk-Off Caps No. 10 Indians Sweep of Delta

FULTON, Miss. – The No. 10 Indians kept rolling Wednesday, taking control late in game one before walking off Mississippi Delta in game two to finish off a doubleheader sweep.
ICC opened the day with a six-run burst across the fourth and fifth innings for a 6-1 win, then answered late again in the nightcap as Zoie Goodman delivered the game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh for a 4-3 victory.
Game 1: No. 10 Indians 6, Mississippi Delta 1
For three innings, this one stayed quiet.
Then ICC broke it open in the fourth.
Ella Duhon got the rally moving with a two-run double to left that scored Morgan Green and Neely Hodum while Skylar Partlow moved to third. Ann Thomas Luke followed with a two-run double to right, bringing home Partlow and Duhon to stretch the lead to 4-0. Taylor Shands added another run with a double to right that scored Houston Rae Grantham and pushed the margin to 5-0.
ICC added insurance in the fifth when Shands reached on a fielder's choice that brought home Macie Starling for the final 6-1 margin.
Partlow led the Indians with two hits.
Ramsey Montgomery worked the final 3.2 innings, giving up two hits and one unearned run while striking out 10 without a walk to pick up the win. Alanee Wheeler got the start and allowed three hits and no runs over 3.1 innings with four strikeouts and no walks.
Game 2: No. 10 Indians 4, Mississippi Delta 3
The second game took a little longer, but ICC had the last swing.
Locked in a 3-3 game in the bottom of the seventh, the Indians pieced together the winning rally. Duhon lined a single to left, moved into scoring position on Luke's sacrifice bunt and came home when Goodman shot a line-drive single to center to seal the walk-off win.
ICC scored first in the second when Victoria Fields singled home a run to give the Indians an early edge. In the fourth, the Indians grabbed a 2-1 lead after a Mississippi Delta error opened the door for another run.
Delta answered in the fifth and moved in front 3-2, putting ICC in chase mode the rest of the afternoon. The Indians responded in the sixth when Partlow dropped down a sacrifice bunt that helped tie the game at 3-3 and set the stage for the seventh-inning finish.
Lizzie Meeks went the distance in the circle, allowing seven hits and three runs over seven innings while striking out 10 and walking two.
