Carson Owens
Head Softball Coach

Carson Owens was named head softball coach at Itawamba Community College in 2024, quickly making an impact by leading the Indians to five wins over ranked opponents and 30 total victories in his first season. Under his guidance, ICC broke three program records in a single season (single-game home runs, walks, and strikeouts) and finished sixth nationally in team GPA, with nine student-athletes earning All-American Scholar-Athlete honors. He also coached 16 players to All-Region accolades and five to All-American recognition.

Owens arrived at ICC after serving as director of player development at UAB in 2024. Prior to that, he was the head coach at Wallace State Community College from 2022–2024, where he guided the program to back-to-back ACCC Conference Championships and earned 2023 ACCC Coach of the Year and NJCAA South District Coach of the Year honors. His career also includes assistant coaching stints at Southern Utah University (2021–2022), the University of Alabama (2019–2021), and Wallace State CC (2017–2019).

His coaching accolades include the 2023 ACCC Coach of the Year, 2023 NJCAA South District Coach of the Year, 2022 and 2023 ACCC Conference Championships, and national coaching staff honors from the NJCAA and NFCA in 2022. He was also part of the University of Alabama’s 2021 SEC Championship team.

Owens holds an associate of applied science degree from Wallace State Community College (2019), a bachelor’s degree in commerce and business administration from the University of Alabama (2021), and a master’s degree in business administration from Mississippi State University (2023).
