FULTON, MS – Since their loss to Jones County two weeks ago, the Lady Indians have been on a tear winning in dominating fashion with their smallest margin of victory in the last two games being 17-points. On Saturday, the Lady Indians picked up their third consecutive win as they defeated Snead State 79-51.
Snead State struck first, but the Lady Indians (5-1) took the lead on two Raylin Starks (Cordova, TN) baskets and immediately extended their lead as they put together a 29-10 run. By halftime, the Lady Indians had extended their lead to 20-points as they led 47-27.
The Lady Indians biggest lead of the game came off a 3-point play by Jayla Chills (Ripley) that extended the lead to 61-30.
With the big lead, the Lady Indians were able to utilize their depth on the bench. The bench accounted for 29-points led by Julianna Garner (New Albany) with finished with 8-points.
Snead State wasn't able to find an answer offensively as the Lady Indians cruised to the 79-51 victory.
The Lady Indians benefitted from great defensive play has they held Snead State to 34 percent shooting from the floor while picking up 19 defensive rebounds and 17-steals. Jeronia Allen (Minden, LA) and Ricki Hooker (Olive Branch) led the Lady Indians defensively as Allen picked up 6-steals and 5 defensive rebounds and Hooker had 5-steals.
A trio of sophomores led the Lady Indians in scoring as Chills scored 18-points, followed by Allen with 15-points and Kaelin Kneeland (Olive Branch) who chipped in 13-points.
After a short break for Thanksgiving the Lady Indians will resume the season Monday, December 1 when they travel to Tuscaloosa to take on Shelton State. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
