SENATOBIA, MS – The Lady Indians survived their first North Division road test of the season behind a 21-point performance by freshman Erika Toney (Horn Lake), leading them to a 75-70 win over Northwest.
Both teams came into Monday night's affair looking for their second North Division win, but the Lady Indians (7-2, 2-0) jumped out to an early lead and extended it to as much as 10-points in during the first half. Jeronia Allen (Minden, LA) led the charge putting up 12-first half points to give the Lady Indians a 42-33 lead at halftime.
The Lady Rangers (8-2, 1-1) rallied after break; however, they were unable to overcome Toney's flawless shooting half. Toney was perfect from the floor and charity stripe in the second half accounting for 15 of the Lady Indians 33-points.
A late run by the Lady Rangers pulled them within 1-point, but the Lady Indians were able to fight off the surge, picking up the 75-70 win.
Toney led the Lady Indians with a season high 21-points, followed by Allen with 16-points and Jayla Chills (Ripley) who chipped in 10-points. Ieysha Mays (Mound Bayou) picked up a team high 13-rebounds and Kaelin Kneeland (Olive Branch) added 10-rebounds in North Division win.
