FULTON, MS – The Lady Indians picked up their first North Division win in dominating fashion on Thursday night, defeating Coahoma 94-52.
Sophomore Kaelin Kneeland (Olive Branch) and freshman Alontra Tucker (Lamar) led the charge in the first half accounting for 21 points of the Lady Indians 44. The half started with the Lady Indians (6-2, 1-0) scoring 23 unanswered points to jump out to a substantial lead.
One reason for the big run was the Lady Indians defense, who closed off the lanes forcing the Lady Tigers (2-6, 0-1) to shot in coverage. The Lady Tigers shot only 30 percent from the floor in the first half and trailed 44-18 at the break.
The Lady Indians continued their dominance in the second half with their smallest lead being 22-points. Eleven of the Lady Indians chipped in offensively and a Kneeland jump shot in the closing minutes gave the Lady Indians a 46-point lead. The Lady Indians cruised to a 94-52 win over the Lady Tigers to earn their first North Division win.
Kneeland led the Lady Indians with 19-points, followed by Tucker with 18-points and Jayla Chills (Ripley) who added 17-points.
The Lady Indians will travel to Senatobia Monday night for their first division road test. Tip off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
