FULTON, Miss. – Leanna Silas has signed to continue her basketball career at Cameron University in Lawton, Okla.
The Southaven native anchored the Lady Indians' defense with a team-high 23 blocks while collecting 124 total rebounds. She picked up a double-double in ICC's 65-56 road win at East Central on Jan. 30.
Silas looked back on her time at ICC and spoke of the bonds and relationships she made along the way, whether on the court or in the classroom.
"It was such a good experience bonding with my teammates and coaches and creating a family here," Silas said. "We ended up winning the region championship our sophomore year, and that was really good. It was just a good experience both years."
ICC head women's basketball coach Robin Porter stated she is happy to see Silas move on to the next level and that she can't wait to see what she'll do in the future.
"Leanna is my captain, so when a captain leaves, that leaves a dent in that sophomore transition," Porter said. "She's very vocal, athletic and she has not reached her ceiling yet. So I can't wait to see what she does in her future. I'm excited for her."
The Cameron Aggies are a member of both the Lone Star Conference (LSC) and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II.
