Poplar Bluff, Mo. - The No. 22 Lady Indians put together a dominant wire-to-wire performance Friday afternoon, rolling to an 87–50 victory over Moberly Area Community College in the Three Rivers Classic at the Libla Sports Complex.
The win marked the first of the season for the Lady Indians (1–2) and the first-ever meeting between the two programs. After Moberly (0–3) grabbed a brief 5-4 lead early in the opening quarter, ICC took control and never looked back, building a 42-point advantage with just over four minutes remaining in the game.
Tootie Lockett led a balanced attack, finishing with 19 points on 7-of-8 shooting, including a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc, while adding six assists and five rebounds. Chloe Chism knocked down four 3-pointers on her way to 12 points, and I'Xana Winters chipped in 10 points and five assists.
Inside, Starr Amos powered the paint with a 12-rebound effort to go with eight points in her first start of the season, while Briyana Turner added 10 points and five boards..
The Lady Indians shot an impressive 52.5% from the field and 54.2% from three-point range, turning defense into offense with 27 points off turnovers and 14 fast-break points. The Lady Indians' unselfish play was on full display as they assisted on 27 of their 32 made field goals.
ICC's defense stifled the Lady Greyhounds throughout the afternoon, limiting Moberly to just 21 first-half points while forcing 14 turnovers that fueled transition scoring.
The Lady Indians will continue play in the Three Rivers Classic on Saturday when they face No. 6 Three Rivers at 3 p.m. The Lady Raiders are 3-0 on the season and defeated No. 16 Trinity Valley, 72-66, on Friday.
