BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Lady Indians secured a hard-fought road, 55-51, victory over Lawson State.
ICC fell behind early scoring only five points in the first quarter and trailing the Cougars 20-13 at the half. Despite the low output the Lady Indians' defense remained stout and prevented Lawson State from building an insurmountable lead.
The turning point came in the fourth quarter where the Lady Indians exploded for 22 points their highest scoring period of the contest to take the lead and held off a late rally to pick up the win.
Tootie Lockett delivered a dominant 24-point performance on 7-of-15 from the field while converting 10-of-13 from the free throw line.
The Lady Indians outrebounded Lawson State 38-28 led by Lockett's eight rebounds and strong efforts from I'Xana Winters and Carlie Brock who each pulled down 6 rebounds. Starr Amos provided 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting.
ICC will be back in action when they host Enterprise State on Tuesday.
