Lady Indians Handle Kilgore to Open Guaranty Bank Holiday Classic

SENATOBIA, Miss. — The Lady Indians opened the Guaranty Bank Holiday Classic with a steady, four quarter effort and a 65-57 win over traditional NJCAA power Kilgore College on Friday at Northwest on Friday.
ICC (5-3) set the tone early with a 17-9 first quarter and never surrendered the lead. The Lady Indians shot 53 percent in the first half and carried a 34-24 advantage into the break. Kilgore (4-3) rallied in the third quarter with an 18 point frame, but Lady Indians answered by converting key possessions late and closing the game with a 19 point fourth quarter.
Tootie Lockett paced the Lady Indians with 15 points and six rebounds while handing out five assists. I'Xana Winters added 12 points and seven rebounds and matched Lockett with five assists. Starr Amos added 10 while Carlie Brock came off the bench for 11 points and three rebounds.
The Lady Indians finished plus two on the glass and forced 21 turnovers.
There will be no rest for the weary as the Lady Indians will face another traditional JUCO women's baketball power in the Trinity Valley Lady Cardinals on Day 2 of the Guaranty Bank Holiday Classic in Senatobia.
