SENATOBIA, Miss. – The Lady Indians gave Northwest everything it wanted Tuesday, clawing all the way back from an 11-point deficit and putting the game in the balance in the final minute before the Lady Rangers held on for a 56-52 win.
Down 51-40, the Lady Indians ripped off a 10-0 run, cutting it to 51-50 with 1:20 left.
ICC was still right there in the final minute. The Lady Indians trailed 53-52 with 50 seconds to go and had chances to flip it, but a pair of turnovers, including one on a potential game-tying layup with 20.1 seconds remaining, kept the comeback from becoming a finish. Northwest sealed it at the line, going 4-for-4 in the closing stretch to protect the lead.
Briyana Turner anchored ICC's effort with 11 points and a dominant 13-rebound night. I'Xana Winters led the Lady Indians with 12 points off the bench and delivered a steady late-game presence, going 5-for-6 at the free throw line while adding five rebounds and four assists. Kinsley James added 10 points.
After a 12-12 tie through one, Northwest took a five-point edge into halftime and carried that margin into the fourth. ICC answered with its best quarter of the night, outscoring the Lady Rangers 18-13 in the final period.
The Lady Indians will continue conference play when they host Co-Lin Thursday.
