UTICA, Miss. - The Lady Indians walked into Hinds on February 9 and turned the night into a four-quarter flex, blasting the Lady Bulldogs 74-47.
The Lady Indians (15-7, 6-2 MACCC) set the tone immediately, holding Hinds (3-6, 0-7 MACCC) to seven points in the first quarter while building a 19-7 cushion. By halftime it was 42-27, and any thought of a home push got erased in the third when ICC slammed the door with a 21-10 quarter to stretch the lead to 63-37.
This one was built on the glass and on the defensive end. ICC won the rebound battle 49-33, grabbed 22 offensive boards, and kept reloading possessions all night. Even with the shots coming and going (30-of-84 overall, 4-of-16 from three), the extra chances made it feel inevitable.
Starr Amos went 6-of-12 for 13 points, pulled down 11 rebounds, and stacked four blocks, cleaning up everything around the rim. Briyana Turner joined her with a double-double of her own (10 points, 10 rebounds), and Emarie Boddie filled up the hustle column with nine boards.
Chloe Chism gave ICC a quick-hit spark, scoring 10 points in 11 minutes while knocking down two threes. Carlie Brock added 11 off the bench, Kinsley James chipped in seven in six minutes, and I'Xana Winters brought pressure with three steals as the Lady Indians finished with 11 steals and five blocks.
Next up for the Lady Indians is a home showdown with conference-leading Gulf Coast Community College (14-3, 8-0 MACCC) on Alumni Night and Lil Indians Night, with the Guaranty Bank opening tip set for 5:30 p.m.
