Quick Turnaround, Same Result: Lady Indians Roll Southwest
The Lady Indians (17-7, 8-2) turned a tight first quarter into a blowout by halftime and rolled past Southwest Mississippi (7-15, 3-6) 76-38.
FULTON, Miss. - Less than 24 hours after knocking off Gulf Coast, the Lady Indians came back and played like a team that wanted zero drama.
The Lady Indians (17-7, 8-2) turned a tight first quarter into a blowout by halftime and rolled past Southwest Mississippi (7-15, 3-6) 76-38.
It started slow and scrappy. The Lady Indians led just 13-12 after the first, and the Lady Bears was hanging around with pace and patience. Then the second quarter hit, and the game flipped.
ICC ripped off a 23-10 second quarter to take control at the break, 36-22, and the lead only grew when the Lady Indians came out of halftime with their best stretch of the day. ICC buried Southwest in the third, winning it 24-9 to push the margin to 60-31. By the time the fourth started, the only question was how clean the finish would be. The Lady Indians answered that too, closing with a 16-7 fourth to lock up the 38-point win.
The offense was balanced and the pressure was steady. Tootie Lockett scored 17 with two threes and added four assists. I'Xana Winters matched her with 17 with four assists. Carlie Brock filled the box score with 13 points, eight rebounds, and three assists, and Kinsley James added 11 off the bench. Briyana Turner pulled down 10 rebounds.
With the back-to-back wins in the books, the Lady Indians stay in the MACCC race and comes out of the quick turnaround with a sweep of the week.
