MERIDIAN, Miss. – The No. 24 Lady Indians earned a 6-3 victory over No. 23 Meridian on Friday, capturing two of three doubles matches and securing four singles wins to clinch the victory.
In doubles action, ICC took control early with wins on Courts 1 and 3. At No. 1, Agostina Pizarro and Melina Vazquez teamed up for an 8-4 victory. Ava Logan and Addi Joshlin delivered a dominant performance at No. 3, 8-0. Meridian picked up its lone doubles point at No. 2, defeating Ava Moore and Breanne Sparks, 8-1.
Leading 2-1 after doubles play, the Lady Indians carried that momentum into singles.
Pizarro secured a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 1 to extend the advantage, while Joshlin added another point with a 6-3, 6-1 decision at No. 3. Sparks followed with a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 4.
Moore battled through a tightly contested match at No. 5, splitting the first two sets before pulling away in the tiebreak, 7-6, 1-6, [10-3], to seal the team win. Meridian claimed victories at No. 2 and No. 6 singles to account for its three points on the day.
