FULTON, Miss. – The No. 24 Lady Indians dropped a close match to No. 21 Bevill State on Monday, 5-4.
In doubles action, ICC claimed two of the three courts to take an early 2-1 advantage. At No. 1, Agostina Pizarro and Melina Vazquez delivered a strong performance with an 8-1 victory. Addi Joshlin and Ava Logan secured the second doubles point with a hard-fought 9-7 win at No. 3. Breanne Sparks and Ava Moore dropped an 8-1 decision at No. 2.
Leading after doubles play, the Lady Indians picked up two singles victories but were unable to hold off Bevill State's late push. Pizarro earned a decisive 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles, while Vazquez followed with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2.
Bevill State secured the remaining four singles matches to clinch the team win. The Lady Bears picked up victories at Courts 3, 4, 5 and 6 singles to seal the 5-4 result.
