No. 24 Lady Indians drop 6-3 decision to No. 25 Southwest
The No. 24 Lady Indians fell 6-3 to No. 25 Southwest at the Johnson-Partlow Tennis Courts on Friday.
FULTON, Miss. – The No. 24 Lady Indians fell 6-3 to No. 25 Southwest at the Johnson-Partlow Tennis Courts on Friday.
In doubles play, the Lady Indians picked up one win out of three matches. At No. 3, Addi Joshlin and Ava Logan secured an 8-1 victory to give ICC its lone doubles point. Southwest claimed the other two courts, taking an 8-3 decision at No. 1 over Agostina Pizarro and Melina Vazquez, and an 8-4 win at No. 2 against Ava Moore and Breanne Sparks.
Trailing 2-1 after doubles, ICC battled in singles play with wins on the top two courts. Pizarro earned a hard-fought 7-5, 6-1 victory at No. 1, while Vazquez rallied for a three-set win at No. 2, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.
Southwest secured the team victory by taking the remaining four singles matches. Joshlin dropped a 6-4, 6-1 decision at No. 3, while Sparks fell in a three-set battle at No. 4, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Logan also went three sets at No. 5 but came up short, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. At No. 6, Moore was defeated 6-2, 6-0.
