FULTON, Miss. – The Lady Indians opened the 2025 season on a high note with a 3-1 victory over Pellissippi State in their home debut Saturday.
Millie Webb (Rugby, England) struck first for ICC, finishing a pass from Cooper Pletzke (Clinton) to put the Lady Indians ahead 1-0 with just over 35 minutes left in the first half.
The advantage doubled when Mattie Ahmed (Oxford) found the back of the net to make it 2-0 midway through the half. Pellissippi State answered quickly to cut the lead in half, but ICC regained control minutes later.
Pletzke capped her strong first-half performance with a header that extended the margin to 3-1 with 12 minutes to play before the break. That score held as the Lady Indians locked down defensively in the second half to secure the win.
"I'm really proud to see all the hard work pay off with a win to start the season," ICC head coach David Strother said. "We had some growing pains during preseason, but the ladies did a great job of overcoming that, coming together as a team, and making it happen this afternoon."
The Lady Indians (1-0) now hit the road for a two-match trip. They'll face St. Louis Community College on Thursday at 4 p.m. before traveling to Jefferson College on Saturday for an 11 a.m. kickoff.
