East Central struck first early in the opening half, but Chloe Boyd answered for the Lady Indians to knot the game at 1–1. The teams battled through the remainder of the first half, entering halftime deadlocked at 1 apiece.
The second half continued in dramatic fashion. East Central regained the lead 2–1 midway through the half, but ICC responded as Noelie Therasse headed home a goal to even the score at 2–2 with under five minutes remaining. Despite the Indians' late push, East Central scored the decisive goal to take a 3–2 lead, which held until the final whistle.
